Don Barbara Hired as St. John Bosco Baseball Coach

Long Beach State Baseball Hall of Famer, Don Barbara, has been hired as the new head coach at St. John Bosco. He replaces Mario "Moon" Cordero who resigned from the position at the end of the 2014 season.

After an All-American season at first base and the Division I hitter of the year, Barbara was selected in the 24th round of the 1990 draft by the Anaheim Angels. He played seven seasons of professional baseball reaching AAA before returning to Long Beach State to begin his coaching career.

His coaching stops include Long Beach State, Sacramento St., and most recently, the University of Pacific where he was the recruiting coordinator and hitting instructor.

While at Long Beach State, Barbara recruited Troy Tulowitzki, Evan Longroia, Jeremy Reed, Bobby Crosby, Paul McAnulty, and Termel Sledge, all of which reached the Major Leagues.
